Good Zombie Films

Are you looking for good zombie films? these are some of the best zombie films ever made.

Zombie films are a particular type of horror movie genre, an old favorite of mine is the original Dawn of the Dead, there have also been some great recent zombie movies. I am a big fan of the zombie style movie, they create a great sense of survival and isolation that is unmatched by any other type of movie. Zombie movies have a huge following and fan base, they offer a great form of escapism from our daily lives. Modern zombie movies started in the 60s with Night Of The Living dead and they have been very popular ever since, many recent good zombie films have followed the same style and continue to be popular to this day.

What Are Zombies?

They are the living dead, mindless creatures that resemble humans but they have no humanity left in them, their only desire is to eat the flesh of the living.

How To Kill A Zombie?

The brain has to be destroyed, (Gun Shot, Axe, anything that can cause serious brain injury) decapitation will disable the body, however the head will still be alive.

Good Werewolf Movies

This page has a list of some good werewolf movies, werewolves are a very popular mythical creature.

Werewolves are very popular in modern fiction with movies and books based on Werewolves being released all the time. They're a personal favorite of mine, there have been some really good werewolf movies plus TV series in recent years.

What is a Werewolf?

Werewolves are humans that have the ability to turn into a Wolf or a Wolf like creature or humanoid Wolf. A Werewolf can also be known as a Lycanthrope or just simply Lycan which is commonly used in the Underworld films. The werewolf myth is originally thought to have originated from Europe, In this modern day world they're well known world wide.

Werewolf Characteristics

A Werewolf's transformation can be triggered by a Full Moon or some Werewolves are portrayed with the ability to transform whenever they like, to turn at will. Depending on how they are portrayed in what ever fictional medium, their strengths vary, this normally includes enhanced physical strength and speed, these abilities are normally only apparent in Werewolf form, but sometimes these abilities can be apparent while they're in human form. Some werewolves are shown as immortal creatures that can only be killed by silver, others portray them as mortal creatures that age and die just like normal humans.

Good Vampire Movies

This page has a list of good vampire movies, if you're looking for the best blood sucker films then look no further.

Vampire movies are a very popular type of movie and there have been many of them, some good ones and some not so good. Film companies have been making them for years and they're still going strong.

Vampires are generally represented in the same way, supernatural creatures that live on the blood of the living. Vampires are known to have a certain set of weaknesses like, sunlight, garlic, crosses, silver and wooden stakes to the heart. Other characteristics they have is no reflection, sleeping in coffins, the ability to fly and transform into a bat like creature.

Vampires are known to have a few special abilities, such as super strength and speed, immortal/Immunity to aging, quick healing and even limb regeneration, some are represented as having mental powers like the ability to influence minds as well as other things.

History Of The Vampire

Reports about blood sucking creatures have been around for hundreds and even thousands of years, it wasn't until the 1700s when they were labelled with the name Vampires and become popular in fiction and literature.

I am only including movies which I consider scary or good, or both, I will be leaving out such films like the Twilight series as I consider them to be more Romance movies.

Ginger Snaps Review

Ginger Snaps Review, two outcast sisters get attacked by some kind of animal in the woods.

Director John Fawcett

Writer Karen Walton

Cast

Emily Perkins, Brigitte Fitzgerald
Katharine Isabelle, Ginger Fitzgerald
Danielle Hampton, Trina Sinclair
John Bourgeois, Henry Fitzgerald
Kris Lemche, Sam McDonald
Mimi Rogers, Pamela Fitzgerald
Jesse Moss, Jason McCardy

Copperheart Entertainment, Running time 108 minutes

Two sisters Ginger and Brigitte are outcasts and struggle to get along with their fellow class mates, one night while they're walking in their local woods the two sisters get attacked, Ginger is bitten by some unknown creature. A few days after, Ginger starts to change physically and her personality begins to shift. Brigitte suspects the creature was a Werewolf and she comes to the conclusion that Ginger is turning into a Werewolf and starts to search for a cure.

I think we have been starved of good Werewolf movies and Ginger Snaps is one of those movies that eluded me for some years, so after doing some research on Werewolf movies I came across this, with good reviews I was very eager to get my hands on this and see what I have been missing out on.

Ginger Snaps is a refreshingly original take on Werewolf movies, it revolves around two teenage girls with low social value, struggling through life, and it deals with the confusion of puberty. The two girls are interesting characters and their lives and troubles are enough to hold the viewers attention, then add Werewolves into the mix and it makes for a very entertaining movie.

The acting is a little weak at times, but for the most part it's solid and believable with some good character development. No CG is used, the director choose to use prosthetics instead, the gore effects look good and gruesome, the Werewolf itself is very ugly and nasty, but the prosthetic model doesn't look all that realistic in a close up view, which will be down to the small budget this movie had.

Overall I enjoyed Ginger Snaps, definitely one of the best Werewolf movies I have seen in recent years.

List of Funny Horror Movies

What are the best funny horror movies available now? this list includes some of the most well known and best humorous horror films.

The first movie I watched from this list was the Little Shop Of Horrors, I was only very young at the time and it did scare me. Another early favorite was Gremlins, again as a child I did find it a little scary, but it wasn't difficult to scare me back then, when Lou Ferrigno would turn into the Hulk I would hide behind the sofa.

Some of the films on this list are cheap slap stick movies which are not classics by any means, but they do offer some entertainment value. A couple of the Scary Movie films are actually funny, the first and the third are good if I remember correctly, it has been awhile since I watched them.

This list of funny horror movies does offer some very good films in there own right, films such as the Evil Dead movies including the Army Of Darkness are among my favorites. Shawn Of The Dead is very funny using more intelligent humour, which is a nice change from the slap stick style.

Evil Dead (2013) Preview

Remake of the classic (1981) movie Evil Dead, Evil Dead is one of my favorite Horror Movies, how will this compare?

Release date 13th March (US) 19th March (UK)

Director Fede Alvarez

Writers Fede Alvarez - Diablo Cody

Cast

Jane Levy - Mia
Shiloh Fernandez - David
Jessica Lucas - Olivia
Lou Taylor Pucci - Eric
Elizabeth Blackmore - Natalie
TriStar Pictures - Running time 91 minutes

A group of friends head off to an isolated cabin, while there they find a very old and creepy looking book called the book of the dead, after reading from the book the group unknowingly summon an evil entity. The entity possesses members of the group which turns into a fight for survival for the others.

Evil Dead is a favorite horror movie of mine and this remake remake is much welcomed. The original story is a very simple one but the idea was brilliantly executed in the original movies, however to the modern viewer the original is looking very dated and the remake has come at a time which makes sense.

There's no CGI in this Evil Dead remake which is a nice refreshing change from what we have seen lately, this should also please the old school fans of the original movies. The director decided early on that no CGI would be used, instead opting for old style special effects and illusion techniques.

Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell are involved, while it would of been nice to see Bruce Campbell back in his role as Ash, it was decided early on that this would not happen. Sam Raime and Bruch Campbell are both involved in the production of this remake, I see this as definitely being a good thing, having the main influences of the original movies involved in this remake should capture some of the atmosphere from the 1981 movie.
